PM, MODI, AS THE LAST OF THE MOHICAN.(updated)

By K. P. PASWAN.

Prime Minister of the largest democratic country of this planet is Narendra Modi. For a long time, he hold the post of Chief Minister of a state named Gujarat, which happened to be a prosperous state. Many Pharma giants have their manufacturing units in the state , has many big industries, like oil refineries, soft wares, diamond cutting and above all garment manufacturing units. The state has also so many exporters in finished diamond products, who imports rough diamonds, give different shapes and exports to different countries all over the world, earning much needed hard currency. The minority Muslims known as Bohras are backbone of many industries.

Gujarat has a rich and memorable past. Foreign invaders from Central Asia came to Gujarat in the past to loot and plunder the prosperity and the famous Somnath temple was damaged and desecrated by these invaders. Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest of the freedom fighter was borne and brought up here and the first Home Minister of independent India was a Gujarat Sardar Vallabh bhai Patel, who gave us what we see as united India, without him geography of India would have been different.

Then there is another side of the history. The state is famous for atrocities against the Dalits, these poor Dalits cannot scream as they are not allowed to scream

GUJARAT MODEL. Several politicians and some of academics have expressed opinion against Gujarat model of industrial growth, applying in every state of India.  But the real fact is that there is nothing like Gujarat model. There is only a strategy. Gujarat faces the Arabian ocean and have some natural harbors, which exist from ancient times. Some of these harbors have been developed as outstanding ports for carrying out international trade.

Gujarati are also very religious. Communal violence erupted, when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of the state. Those who indulged in inciting violence are called communal and those who opposed are dubbed as secular, but the fact is that they are neither secular nor communal but Hippocratic. It is therefore pleasant surprise to find Narendra Modi, an honest man of words heading a democratic India in a professional and rational manner.

SERIOUS TALK. India has its own fault, the country has high unemployment, a nasty immigrant problem but its health under Modi is commendable, it is not dependent upon foreign aid. It has moderate poverty and the lowest income inequality among industrialized nations. The founding fathers of our constitution were well read, and erudite. The Indian idea of uniqueness, religious tolerance and  freedom of expression came from the West. But the current administration is putting that to the test. Narendra Modi has been dragged into controversy for no obvious reasons. He is accused of favoring middlemen in the  famous Rafael  Arms deal but without any proof, it is like dragging late Rajiv Gandhi also known as Mr Clean into Bofors deal but without proofs.

Than there is so called Farmers agitation, going on in India for a long time A legislation was passed for giving new dimension to agriculture, based on modern technology, but the farmers are demanding nothing less than the withdrawal of legislation.  The so-called farmers agitation has invoked support from some  politician like Justin Trudeau the PM of Canada. There are a few Labours MPs in U K, who had been dubbed by the former PM, David Cameron as either terrorists or supporter of terrorism, these MPs have supported the farmer’s agitation

J&K . The abrogation of Article 356 has given rise to hopes that  the action would have been applied long ago. One year ago, the insurgents in Kashmir valley were launching not less than 20 attacks per day, now the daily average is less than one or two a day. However the security worry, that improvement may not last long. Some pro Pak groups are already seeking Pakistan's help in rebuilding their projects. At the same time, Indian PM is in no hurry to initiate dialogue with Pakistan or the separatists which is bound to end in failure. Stone pelting was bad and bloody. Now they want electricity and cooking gas back. The question is that, can the PM of India step up and deliver the goods. The danger is the Govt allows pro separatists led by Mehbooba Mufti to suffer, while Pakistan's new-found drift back into the jihadist’s orbit. Patriots began urging their followers to join police and army, the enlistments soared. The drop-in attacks would seem to indicate that many of the newly minted cops were once the part of insurgency. In every counterinsurgency, one of the indicators ultimately some level of success, was that the people who fought you, decided not to fight you anymore. Residents are finally venturing into the streets, trying to resume some semblance of normal life. Townspeople go out of their way on foot and bicycle even under chilly day to buy essentials. Nobel Peace prize has lost its gravity. Two politicians who received Nobel Peace prizes for peace are not preaching peace. Barack Obama preached violence in the Middle East while Abi Mehmet, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and now the PM of Ethiopia is preaching genocide in his own country, then we have Malala Yusufzai, a Pakistani girl, who won Nobel peace prize for reasons not known to anybody in this world, is engaged in hate speech against India and Myanmar. She recently graduated from Oxford without passing any examination ( She did not violate rules) and declared her intention to become the PM of Pakistan.

CHINA. China has agreed to disengage in Ladakh, that is not surprising. It also does not mean that the China has suddenly morphed into a cuddly panda, There is a hostile newly elected Boss of the Oval Office who has declared that China would not be allowed to fix the international agenda. Any conflict with India means, unbearable collateral damage and the nasty dictator Xi jinping also knows that China cannot sustain prolonged border dispute with India without impacting its booming Stock Market. Majority or near majority of respondents in most countries don’t trust China to act responsibly beyond its border. The country’s standing has definitely risen from the days when China exported revolution internationally and chairman Mao topped world’s rogue’s gallery. While Mao exported Cultural Revolution unsuccessfully, Xi jinping is exporting Wuhan virus with outstanding success.

ECONOMY. If India lapses into an outright recession due to lock down to contain the Wuhan virus, the impact will be large enough to unravel the global economic story, but any scenario less drastic than the dreaded recession now looks manageable under Modi. Almost, effortlessly, it seems that India has escaped its risky dependence on foreign investments, and credit goes to this PM.

But India is nowhere achieving economic parity with China, it is so because an open democracy is not compatible with rapid rise in manufacturing activities and people in India are taking streets in on flimsy grounds. Again, some of the noted business houses turned out to be involve in money laundering which resulted in their bankruptcy, but retaining enough money to lead a lavish life somewhere else, but outside India. In China every month, a few powerful businessmen have to face the firing squad, as they were involved in corrupt activities, situation in India is just opposite. Here it is difficult to punish economic offenders as they donate to various political parties.  Several top bureaucrats have amassed huge unaccounted property, but are immune from prosecution as the Govt would not sanction prosecution. Honestly speaking foreign investors dislike India in comparison with China and are migrating to Vietnam to evade Wuhan virus. PM, Mr Modi with a down to approach is working silently. Alternative is not emerging from anywhere.

AND FINAL WORDS.

Narendra Modi as a PM of this country is a great watchman except, he represents a political  party ,notorious for anti-Dalit stand, otherwise his every move and policy are meant for development of the country. He may not be the last man standing, but more than this, he is last of the Mohican.

(Note: Mohican was in real time an American General during Civil War. He stood like a rock against all odds)

POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC SANCTIONS.(updated)

 By K. P. PASWAN

Recently the US and the EU imposed political and economic sanctions against Russia. What is the offense committed by the former Communist country? The offense is related to alleged poisoning of one Russian Alex Navalny, a dissident of strong man Vladimir Putin.  Navalny is not a big leader, but a habitual economic offender with an impossible dream to head a poor Russia either in the capacity of   PM or President. Navalny was successfully treated in Germany, for suspected poisoning, and the Chancellor Angela Markel lost no time in alleging that the dissident Navalny was poisoned by the Russian government. However, she did not name Putin as a perpetrator of the crime.

RUSSIA. Russia is already facing several economics sanctions due to its involvement in Ukraine and occupation of Crimea. It must be noted that at the time of Cuba crisis, the than PM of USSR, threaten to bury the West deep into the grave, but situation has changed in favor of the West, and now it was USSR which buried itself,  leaving behind an offspring named Russia.

By these sanctions, the West hopes that Russia might become normal and that Putin might turn out to be a democrat, but they are wrong. It is true that Russia does not have the old Communist regime’s economic or military might. But Putin’s Russia is more frightening and chaotic.   Russia is a very rich, perhaps richer in every sense except that these natural resources remains untouched. Instead of imposing economic and political sanctions, it might be possible to encourage the Russians to help more with Iran, by pointing out that Iran has no bomb program,  and that it is in the interest on Shia Iran to patch up difference with Israel. Russians are vital for to the West’s efforts over global problems such as climate changes and restraining Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Economic and political sanctions have been weaponized by the Western powers to punish the countries not toeing lines of the US and the EU. But political and economic sanctions are not always effective and in the case of Russia, these are not effective at all, as Russia has nothing to loss. Moreover, such type of sanctions are discretionary and not mandated by International Laws. The US in the past  invaded Vietnam and the Middle East without any reason and there is no international body to indict the US and  impose sanctions’ US is using its heft in the financial system to do some effective bullying.

IRAN. Iran is badly affected by sanctions. Oil is not the only source of revenue, Iran is manufacturing, on small scale, cars, motor vehicles, garments, and even iron-based articles. Iran is in a position to export these items abroad. By economic sanctions Iran has suffered so much that the present Ayatollah Khamenei declared that for resuming talk with US, all the economic sanctions imposed upon Iran must be abolished. Iran wants diplomatic support for its nuclear programmes in parts of world, where governments are biddable and can be bribed. Iran has concentrated on strengthening Muslims allegiances with offers of oil.  These Muslims countries are in Africa. But by these sanctions it has become hard for Shia Iran to influence Africa’s predominantly Sunni Muslims, who are also receiving regular bribes and aids from Iran’s rivals of Central Asia.  No wonder Iran is forging close trade links with commodity producers in Africa, Latin America and Australia, but economic sanctions have put an end to these overambitious projects. Iran in short has some serious economic problems.

It is possible that a well-aimed economic sanction persuade the Iranian regime to give up its plan to make nuclear bomb and change its anti Jewish stand. In the long run Iran faces a different type of vulnerability. It is finding it hard to acquire foreign technology to boost productions of its fast depleting oil fields and realize its vast potential as an exporter of natural gas. Iran is angry that Joe Biden has openly acknowledged that the Crown Prince Of Saudi Arabia ordered the killing of his critics Jamal Khasosgi, but refrained from imposing any sanction. Iran is virtually under House Arrest.

N Korea is perhaps the worst victim of international sanctions. China a great friend of N Korea, is not in a position to help N Korea to recover from economic depression, as China is itself suffering badly from economic sanctions imposed by its formidable rival, the USA. North Korea has only one industry that is manufacturing high quality garments, for which it found vast markets in S Korea and neighboring countries. The small country is famous for another industry, making nuclear arsenals and missiles, but so far, no country has shown any interest in purchasing these weapons, authenticity of which is in doubt. N Korea is half starved and wants economic sanctions must end, if threat of nuking neighboring countries and USA is taken back by a paranoid Kim Jong Un. To feed it self N Korea needs 6 million tones of grain a year, it cannot produce anything like this. North Korea used to depend on World Food Programmer every year, for emergency relief as relentless rain destroys crops, but the sanctions mean closure of such generosity.  So in the case of N Korea even China and Russia have not raised loud voice against  sanctions imposed by US.

MYANMAR. Nothing is more surprising than the economic and political sanctions against poor Myanmar, which has suffered at the hand of colonial power UK and continues to suffer as the subsequent governments failed to provide basic needs to the people. The latest sanctions against Myanmar was on the basis of China’s support to military takeover. Myanmar was the epicenter of Golden Triangle, but the pendulum has swung to Latin America. The crushing of the popular uprising in the country against the rule of uniformed soldiers is out of question, but it is not the ruling class, but the common people who are going to suffer.  If the military takeover of a civil administration is logic for imposing economic sanctions than Pakistan deserves harsh sanctions, as the entire democratic institutions in Pakistan is being controlled and guided by the military.

Aung Suui Kye of Myanmar was not succeeding in creating climate compatible with economic growth, and widespread corruption and above all terrorist activities of the so called Rohingya Muslims, who are still dreaming of carving an independent state for them with help from Saudi Arabia. Modern Myanmar may not need the American style of democracy for economic development. Development without security is impossible and the vice versa. For a long time, Myanmar reeled under military, but least development was seen, as there was hardly any day without agitation to restore democracy. Myanmar is very rich in oil and  natural resources, but unfortunately there is no large scale of foreign investment. After coming to power by democratic methods, the Nobel laureate Aung Sue Kyi made cardinal mistake by declaring 'Put the oil money on everyone’s dining table’ she was destined to fail. As the hard-pressed consumers, have listened nearly four decades of the, same slogan and are not easily distracted from worries about jobs and inflation. Latest sanctions are likely to have much impact upon the lives of common people. Along with political and economic sanctions the mighty America is applying financial squeeze separately. The result is going to be very painful for a poor Myanmar.

CHINA. Political and economic sanctions against China, are in the interest of US. These sanctions, have resulted in phenomenal growth of Chinese economy and has benefited American and the German MNCs to keep their investment growing. China favored the former president Donald Trump, who was in the habit of scolding Xi jinping for exporting Wuhan virus.  Xi jinping has allowed neither the cumbersome Communist doctrines nor open democracy to flourish in China.

FINAL WORDS. Barring exceptions economic and political sanctions must not be used as substitutes of nuclear bombing, or attacking the victims with deadly killing machines. Myanmar is not threatening its neighbors, it has no ambitious programmes of becoming a nuclear power. Rohingya Muslims are not welcomed even in Muslim countries. The EU is shedding crocodile tears for the poverty-stricken Muslims Community. Rich Rohingya Muslims are enjoying luxurious life in Myanmar. There is no logic in imposing sanctions against Myanmar, which is ravaged  by miny civil war, but the mighty US is in the habit of favoring some dictators, while discarding others, not liked by it.

KILLING FIELD,THE MIDDLE EAST(updated)

BY K. P. PASWAN.

Killing Field is also the name of a Hollywood movie related to Vietnam war. But Vietnam was not a killing field, but a battle field in which mighty USA, fought with a simple and bushy bearded Ho Chi Minh, who was a nonviolent political head of an impoverished Buddhist country.

GENUINE KILLING FIELD. This blog is related to a real and genuine Killing Field, which consists of entire Middle East, rich in oil but lack in other mineral resources. Here the autocratic rulers are seriously engaged in killing rivals with sophisticated killing machines imported from the USA, Russia and Western Europe., This real killing field came into existence nearly eight hundred years years ago, when the Caliphate was destroyed by a Mongol warrior, who was notorious for killing and executing the vanquished without hesitation. Later on the Caliphate was revived by the Ottoman empire of Turkey.

The large swathe extending from west Africa to the border of Europe is witnessing sectarian conflict, and for some autocrats, this killing field is nothing, but a battle for survival even, if it means annihilation of Muslims by Muslims.  Jihadist in the Middle East after 1950, was fueled by corruption and injustice, but new facts carry the message that killing field is a western attempt to conquer Islamic nations. This movement keeps growing, than threat to interest to people, belonging to other faiths.

Shiites are always at war with the Sunnis although they are devout Muslims, but the Sunnis majority states of the Middle East refused to consider them even Muslims. Iraq, Syria and a few Emirates are Shiite majority states, but being ruled by the Sunnis autocrats. The Shias were always at the receiving end, but with emergence of Iran as an important economic and military power, the Shias in the middle east are more assertive and are in revolt everywhere in and around the Killing Field.

Iran is the only super economic and military power in Central Asia, with Shias in majority and is more progressive in their outlook than the Sunnis. Iran is on the threshold of acquiring nuclear arsenals and would like to fight its traditional rival, Saudi Arabia. Iran does not have Salafi and Wahhabi system of religious philosophy to export and spread fanaticism in different countries of the world. Iran is capable in manufacturing activities and by exporting manufactured products like Cars, Tractors and Garments to Sunni majority states in Africa, has earned much goodwill  in these countries.

THE KURD CONUNDRUM. Population wise the, Kurds constitute most ambitious communities in the middle east.  They are the largest minority group, even though the Kurds are Muslims. In Iraq they are the backbone of  national economy. Under Saddam Hussein, the Kurds were frozen of only industry, the oil, while thousands of families were forcibly removed from their land round the oil rich city of Kirkuk, with the result they launched guerrilla type of war against the Baathists and succeeded in creating a semi sovereign state in northern Iraq. In Turkey, the Kurds, in the past, inflicted severe damage to the Ottoman empire, which was notorious for killing those, who refused to submit to Caliphate. With the end of Ottoman empire, the Kurds and the Turkish Muslims excel in killing each other. The same story is being rewritten in Syria, a country of prosperous people now lying in ruin.
Only solution is to create a separate home land for the Kurds, but Turkey would not agree for fear of losing large swath of land. In Iraq the Kurds are in the occupation of northern part of Iraq, and they  always maintained cordial relations with the Shias. The Sunnis fear the division of Iraq into three parts North for the Kurds, South for the Shia would mean nothing for the Sunnis, as most of oil field are in North and South of Iraq,

Interestingly the division of Iraq was suggested by the current president, Joe Biden of the USA, when he was a Senator. In Syria, the Kurds always fought their nemesis Turkey, a country without natural resources and no oil at all. Oil exploration in the ocean, near Greece has unearthed oil and natural Gas, but not enough for total requirement of Turkey.

Turkey, under Recep Tayyip Erdogan always controlled many pockets of Syria, where plenty of natural gases is found. But the rise of ISIS changed the economic equation of the middle east. The US needed the support of the Kurds to drive out the ISIS from entire Middle East and the strategy succeeded to a great extent. The rise of ISIS was a serious attempt to establish the supremacy of the Sunnis in the middle east, and it received help from all the Sunnis majority states including Turkey. Erdogan murky deal with ISIS just to get Iraqi oil, created a fertile ground for the violent ISIS, who unleashed terrorist activities against fellow Muslims.

ARAB SPRING. Contrary to popular belief, that advent of Arab Spring heralded a new spring in the Central Asia, it virtually fortified the killing field. Arab Spring led to murder and mayhem not only in Egypt and Tunisia, but created fear psychosis in the mind of nasty authoritarian regimes in the middle East.  However, there is no denying the fact, that these autocrats also undertook welfare measures to ward off the Arab Spring. The most powerful fighters were Islamist, including the conservative Al Qaeda, but none were more power full or more distinctive, than the fighters of ISIS, and they received logistic support from autocratic rulers, who were afraid of losing their throne. ISIS carried out public executions,  and displaying severed heads. Those who shouted’ I swear to Caliphate’ were spared but those who uttered ‘We swear by God’ were butchered.

YEZIDIS. There is no place of dissidents and those, who do not subscribe to your ideology in the area in and around the Killing Field. The Yezidis constitute a small community, who do not believe in Islam and are maintaining separate identity in Iraq. There is no evidence to show that they ever posed security threat to state. but they were the worst victims of the religious fanatics and surprisingly the US’s intervention saved the  Yezidis from total extinction.

USA’s ROLE. It is not the oil, but to counter the Russian and Chinese  influence in the middle east, which led the USA to jump in to the Killing Field. In fact, several autocrats including Saudi Arabia, cannot survive without the support of US.  Before the advent of European powers in Central Asia, nobody knew that entire central Asia contained oil, enough to cater to the needs of entire world. Oil was known to local people since the beginning of the 19th century, but its potential was realized only, when colonial powers like Great Britain and France made their presence known to local people. These Colonial powers had technology to explore the Gold Rush, that is oil. So exploration of oil created enough scope for employment and security threat to the power-hungry Autocrats and above all led to the formation of Killing Field. So it is wrong to say that the Western powers created the Killing Field. These Powers including Russia took undue advantage of fanaticism and tribal conflicts and sold their deadly weapons to those autocrats, who were threatened by their own people. The ISIS flourished because of support from the same autocrats who helped the US and Russia to defeat them.

Ramsfield. Ramsfield, the former Secretary of State during the presidency of George Bush was a much-hated man whose actions created strong anti-American feeling in the Middle East. Rumsfeld invented the theory of Chemical weapons in Iraq, when one of brothers of Saddam Hussein was nicknamed as Chemical Ali. There was no Chemical weapons in Iraq, but in the name of destroying the manufacturing center of Chemical weapons, Iraq was devastated beyond repair.

In fact CIA failed badly both in Iraq and Vietnam and this failure led to humiliating retreat of Americans. The dictator Saddam Hussein was himself to be blamed when he invaded Kuwait and declared war against a Shiite Iran, where Saddam Hussein as a Sunni was a hated political figure.Iran inflicted heavy damaged to Iraq. An assault on the ISIS, offers rest of the world a simplistic narrative good against evil, it is not hard to rally international opposition to Jihadists, who rape women, behead dissidents and plunder the properties of the rich and poor.

FINAL WORDS His Holiness-Pope, from the Holy See,  paid a visit to Iraq in search of peace, there are no more than one hundred thousand Christians left in war torn Iraq.  Vatican found ruins of a great civilization destroyed by the fanatics, for whom human life did not matter much. Pope also met much respected Ayatollah Sistani, who preached peace even when ISIS was threatening his own place of learning. The progressive and modern educated Muslims against the radicals can really win in the Middle East, if they move beyond defeating ISIS to some lasting form of security and stability, otherwise the Killing Fields created by power hungry and greedy autocrats is not going to disappear.

   AND LAST FEW WORDS
Outside of the shadow of the Killing Field, none of  us must be under any doubt ,who are they (Radicals) and what they represent.

THE RISE AND FALL OF INDIAN GOP(updated)

BY K P PASWAN.

Indian National Congress Party also known as GOP in India is battling for survival, while American GOP facing crisis, is set to flourish  once again.GOP in India was founded  during the colonial era, after mass uprising in 1857 for expressing grievances. It turned itself into a major  political platform, which, in the course of time, fought for independence of India  under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, The country became independence in 1947. The Congress won parliamentary election several times and the country ‘tryst of destiny, words coined by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, vanished with his death.

It is not so that people in general loath this political party, in fact Congress party still commands much respect, if percentage of voters considered. Decline of the Congress party may be attributed to emergence of regional political outfits in every state, devoid of any political philosophy/ideology. Their ranks are filled with people, who care only for castes and creed and falsely claim themselves as secular and are staunch anti Dalit.

DYNASTIC RULE. The word being spread by the opposition namely Dynastic rule, is misnomer. And Italian Connection is more treacherous. President Bush in the USA saw his son, another Bush, as the president of the USA  and in the cabinet of Boris Johnson of UK, several persons of Indian origin are occupying important portfolio. In the USA, president Biden has appointed more than four dozen American Indians at key position and some of them had been confirmed by the Senate. Surgeon General of US is an Indian American Surgeon, named Vivek Murty. In India, Nehru Gandhi dynasty ruled the country for a longer period, only because people voted  to Congress party.

Pt Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi were towering personalities, who cared for cared for every section of society, and influenced contemporary international politics. These great political figures imposed strict discipline among the ranks and file of the party.  Oppositions lacked leadership, Rahul Gandhi and his mother enjoy widespread support, but unfortunately, they cannot compete with caste oriented society, encouraged by corrupt politicians belonging to opposition parties.  In the name of political dissent, some of the old stalwarts of Indian GOP left the party, as their purposes were not served by the so called Dynasty.

Stunning rise of BJP has nothing to do with growing concern for the majority Hindus, who survived assaults of different natures in different times without the patronage of any political party and will continue to survive till eternity. NDA is flourishing on false promises. Every welfare scheme being talked loudly by NDA has been hijacked from the GOP. The present PM is famous for rare honesty, but he is yet to contribute anything worthwhile to a depressed economy. Corruption has been institutionalized under NDA. India is dangerously and highly polarized society, and it is difficult for a single political party to win the election on its own. It is not so that every cabinet minister in the Modi’s cabinet is corrupt, some of them are highly experienced and certainly not corrupt but they are leaders, who openly preach discrimination against the  Dalit and other weaker sections. With spread of education and modern technology like internet, Face Book, and,Twitter, political consciousness is seen even among illiterate Indians .

Political history of India since 1950 when the country was declared republic till 1984 may be divided into three parts, if an honest and logical conclusion is to be arrived for the decline of the Congress. Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi guided the nation when it was underdeveloped, less populated and with less education. Caste ridden society was the biggest challenge to honest politicians in power.

Nehru was an astute politician and a statesman of international fame. Cold war was at its zenith in a bipolar international politics. It is therefore pleasant surprise to see that Pt Nehru laid the foundation of modern democratic India against all odds. His contemporary S Truman, the American president was skeptics of communist ideology and Pt Nehru championed mixed economy with a dose of socialism and  this bore testimony to his pragmatic approach. During period under study, Communist party was the main opposition and they were demanding nationalization of big industries which were few and far between. But the outstanding Pt Nehru, new that nationalization of Tata and Birla was not going to stimulate economic growth. He introduced Five Year Plans to boost economic development keeping in mind the general welfare of the people, The international politics was changing its color. Capitalism was championed by the USA while Communism was headed by the USSR and the colonial powers like Great Britain and France were breathing heavily, Faster Dulles, the US Secretary of State was threatening the opponents of the US, and credit goes to Pt Nehru to  adopt non alignment movement as its goal of foreign policy.

The period witnessed some of the brilliant politician occupying the post of Secretary of State like Dean Rusk and Ellsworth Bunker in US. President Eisenhower and J Kennedy respected Pt Nehru and such respect would always elude the current group of leaders.

In absence of vibrant economy and dynamic stock market, no mortals on the earth were going to start large scale manufacturing units in India. Pt Nehru befriended the USSR  to neutralize American politicians who were threatening newly independent nations to toe America or perish. Starting of five years plan heralded a new epoch in emerging economy. GOP was at its zenith as the opposition parties had no alternative economic theory, beneficial to the nation as a whole.

CONFLICT WITH CHINA. Much has been written and several theories advanced for bad performance of the Indian army and for ignominious defeat of India at the hands of China. We forget that the strong man of China, Mao Zedong was a nasty dictator, dreaming to spread his Cultural revolution to every part of the world. China’s aggression on India, proves that an overambitious politician has no end or limit to his ambitions. It is also said that Pt Nehru did not order air strike against China, it was certainly, an options available but at what cost? The safety of than Kolkata (Calcutta) was of paramount importance, and by restraining Air Strike, Kolkata was saved. The oppositions suffer from hallucinations by very mention the name of Indira Gandhi. She fought with Pakistan, divided it into two parts, mocked Richard Nixon and his Security Advisor Henry Kissinger and sacrificed herself for the sake of the country. Her outstanding achievements in  every field created jealousy among her antagonists, who resorted to legal and illegal means to remove her from national politics. Nobody  knows the meaning of Total revolution which paralyzed the nation,   In post emergency(1975)  India, we find  rise of  a series of fractious and corrupt coalitions which not only ruined the economy, but convulsed the entire nation

MORE HINDU THAN A HINDU. I have spent a few months in a famous Administrative Academy in India, which rightly boasts its  library as one of the best in the world. While studying the life of Indira Gandhi, I read about Pt Nehru, in the words of Indira Gandhi ''He was more Hindu than a Hindu and more Indian than an Indian'. In the same breath, she declared""Just as majority community has no right to deprive minorities of rights as enshrined in the constitution, at  the same time minority has no right to black mail the majority". By imposing emergency Indira Gandhi virtually saved the country from plunging into anarchy and turning India into another Middle East. She was right in imposing emergency There are allegations of violation of fundamental rights without elaborating, whose fundamental rights were violated ?.  In 1975 ,more than 95% of Indians did not know anything about fundamental rights, and these people were happy in emergency. And those who were aware of fundamental rights were creating drama, attracting international  attention. All the power hungry and disgruntled politicians with only one agenda ‘Remove her, were put behind bar. However they succeeded in removing her. What followed after her ouster is interesting.

RAJEEV GANDHI. He succeeded his mother who was assassinated. He was also known as Mr Clean  owing to his honest image. He could not tolerate corrupt persons, but had to face the dilemma, he was surrounded by a coterie of corrupt friends, who were bent upon to serve their sinister design. His finance minister was an honest man, but without knowing, how to use his honesty for the welfare of the people. There was a Bofors scandal, we learn that the best fighting guns were purchased and huge commission was paid to middlemen and Rajeev’s name was dragged along with a famous character of Hindi Cinema, who used to earn more money than the amount of commission involved in the scam. Without knowing the labyrinth of complex arms sale, his opponents created a hilarious drama which is being played even today. Bofors Scam was invented by the sick mind of the people, who were not happy with limited political power.  After his tragic assassination, India needed charismatic leaders, in absence of which opposition got much awaited  opportunity to grab the power by invoking caste, creed and regional autonomy

POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY One PM introduced Urine Therapy for treating serious disease, second one famous for anti-Dalit stand was PM for less than a month. He was followed by an honest PM, little knowing that he too was surrounded by a battery of corrupt politicians, when he was toppled than there was a period of political and social anarchy which continues even today. There was also a PM from the opposition side who was more of a poet than a politician and during his period maximum number of our Commissioned Officers were martyred, but he failed to get a Nobel peace prize. Than we had a coalition Govt, the PM of which, declared his own Doctrines which allowed Pakistan to flood Delhi with a large number of ISI agents. His Finance Minister presented Dream budget which fulfilled his dream of becoming a billionaire.

The GOP under Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi represent an institution and a political system which has given India an imminence in international politics There is no example in the history of any sovereign country where two PM belonging the same family sacrificed their lives for the sake of their country and not for their personal gains.

PESSIMISTIC VIEWS. India is a highly polarized country of a different kind. Cast and creed are ingredients of DNA of every citizen. After independence, there is marked spread of education and with the advent of modern technology of communication, we also see the return of Caste system, which once prevailed in ancient India, We do not find true nationalistic characteristic of any political party. Every state has its own political party based on the social structure of that state, so in future like-minded political party may join together to form a Govt, but stability of such coalition will always remain in danger, as the head of regional political party who may aspire to become PM of India  may not be  known outside his state.

. In recently held parliament session a member belonging to Congress party was not given ticket for the Rajya Sabha, due to his unfounded dissenting voice. At the time of his farewell in the Upper House he started weeping and surprisingly our  PM was also seen wiping tears as if both of them had lost some near and dear in the pandemic. In fact, both of them created hilarious scene.

If in the next parliamentary election,
Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi face each other as leader of the GOP and the NDA respectively, it will be a curious match, Rahul ha
s accused the PM of being Corrupt, while the PM has maintained studied silence. Rahul Gandhi needs to follow up on his intention of making his party, once a club of near and dear looks as though it represents modern India, the foundation of which was laid down by his great grand father Pt Jawaharlal Nehru
. That means pushing through organizational changes and tightening his grip on how the party chooses its parliamentary candidates. He will be a real and strongest contender at the next election. The best way to exercise influence for Rahul Gandhi in modern India is from within its biggest political groups rather than from fringes, who are neither enigmatic leftist nor hard core rights but hypocrite. Chances of revival of the Indian GOP is bright provided reality is not sacrificed at the altar of pragmatism.

CONCLUSION. Several factors are responsible for the decline of Congress Party. In a caste ridden nation, Congress has bright chance of revival by learning the nature of people, who vote in the name of caste and religion. Multi party system in India is not going to vanish, unless Congress party come foreword with a set of plans, necessary for welfare and unity of the country.Other wise democratic character of India is likely to be tarnished by the current breed of casteist politicians.
